Since OpenStudio has it's own embedded Ruby, which is used for running measures, you don't necessarily have to use a version of Ruby supported by OpenStudio. 2.7 was used for development but other versions may work. #EXCEL 3 A SIMULATION EXAM INSTALL#
Install Ruby on your system if it isn't already setup. make sure command line can recognize the 'openstudio' command. 
The scripts on this repository should work on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
The default IDF generation is based on the OpenStudio CLI, but the workflow supports a 'bring your own IDF' use case. = The purpose of this repository is to generate BESTEST test case models, run simulations, and populate data for ASHRAE Standard 140 reporting spreadsheets for EnergyPlus based whole building simulation tools. Everyone with write access to this repository will get an invite for the new repository. This repository is being maintained for now for access to committ hisotry or issues if needed. A new repository is being setup that maintains all of the old releases, but doesn't have the zip files, instead linking to S3 for the zip files. That along with some PAT projects not used any more bloaded checkout of this repository to 10GB instead of 150MB.
Through EnergyPlus 9.5 this repository has been saving zip files for each test case.
