I tried Googling “NVivo and cluster analysis” and assorted searches, but can’t find anything useful.Īny suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

But now what? How do I analyse the results and find some meaningful ways to describe each of the clusters? And what is a good way to decide how many clusters to choose? I thought perhaps run a matrix coding query on all 30 sources, export into Excel, and then compare counts on each node by cluster to see if I can tell what differentiates clusters, but: (a) I’m not sure if this is the best/a good approach ( I can’t figure out how to get NVivo to analyse only at the sub-node level (it seems to include all levels, regardless of how I’ve aggregated) and © it seems to leave out some nodes entirely, even though there is text coded to them. I have run a cluster analysis on all 30 sources clustered by coding similarity. But I think the level I am interested in looking at is the sub-node level, so I have aggregated each of these (so that the counts include the sub-sub-nodes and sub-sub-sub-nodes). I have coded the data (their reported activities) into 25 nodes (each of the KPIs), so that there are about 250 sub-nodes, some sub-sub-nodes, and the occasional sub-sub-sub node.

In other words, what are the main types of centers based on what they have reported. I am interested in creating a typology of centers based on what they have said in their Progress Reports. Each consists of a Progress Report from a health centre reporting on their planned activities against the same 25 KPIs. I have imported 30 sources for my project. I’m hoping you can help me figure out where to go from here with my project. I am new to using NVivo (I’m using NVivo9) and relatively inexperienced with qualitative research (most of my background is in quantitative survey research using SPSS).
